The Java Teak story:
We started Java Teak in 2005. On a vacation to Bali the previous year, my wife Julie and I fell in love with the architecture, culture, people, art, and furniture. Upon our return, we immediately started shopping for teak furniture for our back patio. Serendipitously, we met a small Bay Area teak dealer who was considering shutting down his business. We offered to take over his company and opened up a small warehouse in Concord, California. Since then, our family has grown from two to four and our business has grown as well.
Java Teak has thrived through the years by focusing on three things: using the highest quality plantation grown grade-A teak available, providing great personal service (see our Yelp reviews), and maintaining low overhead which allows us to offer the lowest possible prices on our premium teak furniture. Yes, you can have all three – service, quality, and value!
We keep our overhead low by shipping 40′ shipping containers a few times per year directly from our supplier in Central Java to our showroom/warehouse in Newark, Ca. Instead of operating in a high-profile and expensive retail location, we opted for a much less costly light-industrial space. We understand that today’s savvy shoppers are doing their research on-line and know how to find us. We have open-to-the-public hours on weekends and are available seven days per week by appointment.
